1st & 3rd January 2022

These posts were originally posted on the YNAB forums and MoneySavingForums (a UK money management site), I am moving my journals across to WordPress to have them in chronological order, and because the YNAB forums are closing as of March 2022. I’m not sure how much of other people’s words I’m allowed to copy across from one site to another, so in some sections I may summarise conversations.

1st January 2022

I’ve decided that for my next two wishlist goals I’m going to start actually putting money into the Dr Marten work shoes category, and also I’m going to start saving for a new travel rucksack by next Christmas. I inherited my current one from my parents and I think it may very literally be older than I am.

The rucksack, like the Whiskey Decanter, is a “by December” goal so it’s not much per month, my main focus will be the shoes. Now up to £49.34 out of £180.

3rd January 2022

Ok, so dont @ me but I’ve already changed my mind on having the Dr Martens as an immediate wishlist goal again 👀 👀

What happened was, I was setting goals/resolutions for 2022. I’ve set two goals regarding my house deposit, the first goal being £3600 total. This should happen automatically as long as I put in the £200 per month I have planned. The second goal is more of a stretch goal, to put in an additional £400 on top of that. So in order to reach that stretch £400 by the end of December, I need to put in £33.34 a month, which I took from the Dr Marten category.

Plans are meant to change…
