These posts were originally posted on the YNAB forums and MoneySavingForums (a UK money management site), I am moving my journals across to WordPress to have them in chronological order, and because the YNAB forums are closing as of March 2022. I’m not sure how much of other people’s words I’m allowed to copy across from one site to another, so in some sections I may summarise conversations.

I’ve been thinking about it, and starting with my March paycheck I think I should sign up to this product my work does called the Investment Hub… It would £25pm less to put towards my savings goals, but if I’m studying to be an Financial Planner at work and if I’m (joint) “investment champion” (I keep track of and keep people updated on internal investment announcements), then I should probably use our companies investment products… if only to get some experience in case people ask…
In response to a commenter asking if the investing product had good reviews, and saying that the money would still be going towards my savings goals, just in a different account
It does have good reviews… but then I would say that, wouldn’t I? 😉 but yeah I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, I just reached the point where I had enough savings behind me that I felt comfortable doing so.
In the long run this money will benefit me, but I’m not going to count it as part of my day to day budget. To make it seriously work for me, I basically have to throw it in and leave it alone for 5+ years. I’m not even going to enter it into YNAB for net worth reasons.
But I’ve set it up now! It’ll start next payday. As of 25th March, I’ll be an Investor 📈 🥂
In response to a commenter saying that hopefully that the investments would come to more than £25 per month, in the end, with interest
I mean, true, in the long run. But I dont intend to keep my investments on budget as they wont be useful in my day to day spending.
I feel so fancy and mature lol (or I will next month, anyway)

Well, it looks like Microsoft office have taken the choice out of my hands and abruptly reduced my OneDrive storage. Time to upgrade. 😠 Apparently they started rolling out these storage reductions in 2016, so I don’t know how it took so long to reach me, but it’s here now
